Show U. S. To Exhibit At State Fair The most unique and at the same time the most comprehensive state fair ever held in Utah will open its gates in Salt Lake City on September Septem-ber 29 and will continue open until October 6. The uniqueness of this year's exposition ex-position arises largely from the fact that the federal government at Washington will be one of the chief contributors. The government exhibit will consist con-sist of all kinds of war material bombs, grenades, torpedoes, war planes, aeroplanes, submarine and warship models and all types oT guns. A large area on the fair grounds will be. devoted to the construction of war trenches and barbed-wire entanglements. entangle-ments. There will also be a Red Cross exhibit ex-hibit of substantial proportions including in-cluding practically every known device de-vice for the alleviation of suffering on the battle field. Besides this, the American Association of Fairs and Expositions is endeavoring to secure for the Speaking program the cooperation co-operation of persons of national distinction, dis-tinction, Herbert C. Hoover, Ex-pres-ldent Roosevelt, Ex-president Taft, Premier Borden of Canada, Archbishop Arch-bishop Ireland, Senator Hiram Johnson, John-son, Congressman Julius Kahn and others are being invited to participate partici-pate in the fair programs throughout through-out the United States. It is not definitely def-initely determined which speaker .will be assigned to the Utah State Fair. Besides these persons of national prominence, there will be a number of government experts who will assist as-sist in explaining the federal exhibit. From assurances which come to the State Fair office from nearly every ev-ery county, the agricultural and stock exhibit for this year will surpass sur-pass anything heretofore collected in Utah for exhibition. The "Food Training Camp" idea has struck home. Although one million men have been called to the front, every loyal Utahn seems to realize that it is the ninety-nine million back of the lines who must help the one million to win the fight. That the department of Food Administration Ad-ministration at Washington appreciates appreci-ates the function of the various state fairs in the country, Is evident from Mr. Hoover's message; "It is the solemn duty of everyone to study food efficiency at your great State Fair." In addition to the above mentioned men-tioned exhibits, there will be an elaborate elab-orate speed program with substantial substan-tial purses for each event; not to mention a large number of entertainment enter-tainment features designed to rest the visitor as they view the various displays. Excursions will be run from the various parts of the state, and surrounding sur-rounding states. |
