When the republic was torn by revolution rev-olution and counter revolution last January, President Oreste fled Irom his capital for safety aboard a German Ger-man ship. Zamor, with his brother fharles, marched into Port au Prince t the head of a force and proclaimed himself president. He called the national na-tional assembly together and on February Feb-ruary 8 was elected president. President Davilmar Theodore, in the meantime, had set up a government govern-ment at Cape Haitien. He fled, however, how-ever, at the approach of Zamor's troops and is now supposed to be somewhere on the Santo Domingo border with a small following. |
