Meirs of Salt Lake have been here several days negotiating for apiece of property prop-erty owned by Dr. Wallick, located on Sixth North and Second West, near the Heber branch of the D. & R. G. They wish this property for the purpose of erecting a glass factory fac-tory on same. Mr. Seymour has purchased the machinery for the factory, and expects ex-pects to have the building ertcted and the factory in operation this fall. The intention is, at first, to manufacture manu-facture fruit and milk bottles, etc., for which orders to the amount of $300,000 have already been taken. Later the company will manufacture window and plate glass and other glass products. Mr. Seymour is now corresponding with a lens manufacturing firm of Rochester, N. Y., which is intending to use the glass to be produced here for lenses. The company owns large deposits of silica sand near Moroni, Sanpete county. This has been thoroughly tested and its superior quality for making glass has been demonstrated beyond any doubt. Provo has been selected as the place for the works on account of the excellent railroad facilities for distribution dis-tribution of the product and for other oth-er reasons. A number of prominent citizens are becoming financially interested in-terested in the company. Provo Herald 21st. |
