Show Elaborate Parade to be Given; Pioneer Program; Amusements For the Children; Chil-dren; A Big Ball Game and Horse Races at the City Park; Wrestling Match and Boxing Contests; All Big Events of the Day. Come to Mount Pleasant to Celebrate Pioneer Day Mt. Pleasant is to have one of the biggest and best celebrations, celebra-tions, in honor of the early Pioneers on July 24th. It is to be one of the best that has been witnessed in this city for years. The spirit of enthusiasm is aroused. The Hearts of the Children Chil-dren are Turned to Their Fathers," and the people of Mt. Pleasant are desirous of showing their respect and gratitude to the Early Pioneers who braved the terrors of the Plains and crossed the Eocky Mountains into the barren Valleys of Sagebrush Sage-brush and Cedars where they established their homes and made the desert blossom into a rose. Committees have been appointed ap-pointed and preparations are being made for a celebration that will keep alive the community com-munity spirit and renew the love and respect that the youth should cherish for their forefathers. Each committee appointed has entered into the work depending upon them with willingness and preparations prepara-tions are well under way for a grand success on Pioneer Day. The day's events will begin with hoisting of the flag at sunrise. The Mt. Pleasant Band will give a morning morn-ing seranade and preparation will be made for the big parade. The place selected by the parade committee for the gathering of the floats is a quiet shady place near the City Hall. At 8:30 o'clock they will begin to assemble assem-ble and when the parade is formed at nine o'clock the long beautiful line will start out up on State Street and down Main. There will be following the American Ameri-can Flag, which will be carried by Ray Monsen and Verge Johnson, the Mt. Pleasant Band then two ox teams driven by Chas. Peterson and Azel Peal and a couple of hand carts under the supervision of Byron Carter Car-ter and Parley Rosenlof. Following these will be seen a "Jubilee Wagon" driven by Roswell McArthur. Buggies Bug-gies follow with Indian War Veterans Veter-ans and an automobile will bring the Pioneers of 1847. Then more automobiles auto-mobiles will carry other Pioneers. Utah will be represented by Miss Edith Madsen with her attendants, Alice Seely and Helen Madsen. C. T. Madsen will assist with the float. Company D will be out in full dress uniforms and participate in the Par-ado. Par-ado. "Emblems of Utah" will be ar- ' ranged by Miss Hilda Madsen, Mrs. A. B. Waldemar and Miss Caroline Rasmussen. If possible it will be decorated with the "Beehive," Sea Gulls and Sego Lillies. The Sunday Schools and Mutuals will appear in the spirit of the parade. Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant will be represented by Miss Fannie Fan-nie Monsen. The City Council will also take part in the parade. C. D. Strang with his drum corps will be no small feature when it comes to making music. All the Business houses in the City from the Mt. Pleasant Mill on upper Main to the Troy Laundry on 5th West Street will appear in the parade with their loyal colors. Farmers Far-mers will also be seen. John H. Seely, James Monsen, C. W. Soren-son, Soren-son, John O. Jones and others will take a prominent part. In like manner man-ner the dairymen, Chas. Oldham, Geo. Madsen, Chris Rasmussen and L. C. Rasmussen will participate in this line. Daniel Rasmussen will enter as a horticulturalist and Dr. E. G. Mills, S. D. Longsdorf, J. C. Ericksen and a number of others, with much credit, will bring in the "Band of 1847." The well known H. H. G. Club will be in their glory. Private families and any that wish to enter the parade with nice floates will be more than welcome. A wild dash from the Indians, in charge of R. N. Bennet, John Carter and W. H. Seely, will be an exciting feature of the parade. Four Prizes will be given by the parade committee. First a prize of Three dollars for the best Pioneer outfit and two dollars for the second best. Also a prize of three dollars for the most attractive representation representa-tion in the parade and two dol'ars for the second best. The committee has appointed J. W. Cherry, George Christensen, Pres. Peter Matson, Mrs. Fannie Miles, and Mrs. Tressa Ericksen to act as judges to award the prizes for the parade. SPORTS FOR CHILDREN The children will be entertained at the church grounds by the amusement amuse-ment committee in the following manner at 1 o'clock p. m: Orange Contests in tub of water and also suspended on strings. 2 5 yard dash for boys from 12 to 14 years of age. 1st and 2nd prizes will be given. 25 yard dash for girls from 12 to 14 years of age. 1st and -2nd prizes. 20 yard dash for two oldest men on the grounds. Prize will be $1.00. $1.00 will be given to the oldest lady on the grounds. Sack race for boys from 12 to 14 years. Prize to be awarded. Ball rooting contest for boys 1st and 2nd prizes. Blindfold boys and girls hunting for oranges on the lawn. Ball rooting contest for boys. 1st and 2nd prizes to be given. BALL GAME A ball game will be given at the City Park in the afternoon that will give interest to all the base ball sports in the country. Mt. Pleasant is out for a big game and they expect to have a good one. Further information in-formation will be given later. HORSE RACES A committee has been appointed to make arrangements for some very interesting pony races which will take place immediately after the ball game. It has been suggested that all horses that ha3 ever taken a prize be barred from the races. There will be a number of races so that every body should bring their ponies. Prizes will be given. WRESTLING MATCH One of the biggest sporting events of the day's program will be a wrestling wrest-ling match between two champion wrestlers, one from Montana and the other from Utah, which will take place at the Armory Hall at 7:30 o'clock in the evening. Both men are well matched and are in the best of condition. The wrestlers are going to give one of the best performances ever put upon the mat in Sanpete County. These two men have been training for weeks and are anxious to meet each other in the bout. The committee is also making arrangements ar-rangements to have a preliminary match on the mat between Elmer Miller and Frank Ruesch. I In connection with the wrestling matches two or more preliminary boxing contests of 3 rounds each, between be-tween local people, will be given. It is reported by the committee that Lorenzo Bunce and Frank Seely, both heavy weights will meet in a three round bout. Arthur Neilson and Andrew Tid-well. Tid-well. both middle weights will also meet in another 3 round bout. Geo Christensen has also consented to enter en-ter the ring, but the committee ha? not been able to find his match up to the time of going to press. Dances and a picture show will br given immediately afterwards.
