Show MINING TOWN WIPED OUT. Two Women Drowned and Fifteen Children Rescued from Death. Denver, Colo. The little mining town of Telluride, Colo., famous the world over, was virtually wiped off the map Monday as the result of a cloudburst in Cornet canyon, four miles above the main part of the city. Two women are known to have been drowned and fifteen children were rescued after a wall of water from eight to twenty feet high had hit the city. That the loss of life was not heavier is considered almost miraculous. miracu-lous. Cornet canyon runs a precipitous precipi-tous course directly into the city of Telluride. The city has a population of 4,000. A majority of the inhabitants inhab-itants are miners and their families. |
