R. Driggs of the U. of U. at ie. he North Ward Chapel, after a most lelicious banquet had been served to "l .he visitors at the North Sanpete High School under the direction of k. Miss Froiseth of the Domestic Sci-;nce Sci-;nce Department and the Twentieth "entury and Home Culture Clubs of Mount Pleasant. Plans were discussed for the organization or-ganization into a district of all the clubs in Sanpete and Sevier Counties. Coun-ties. Mrs. O. F. Wall was chosen temporary tem-porary chairman of this district until the ratification of permanent officers should be effected by any five clubs n the District. At 2 o'clock the Wasatch Academy assembly room was filled with representatives re-presentatives -from clubs in Salina, Gunnison, Manti (2), Fountain Green, Fairview, Ephraim, Nephi and Mount Pleasant (2). The program apened with a mixed quartette of singers from Wasatch Academy followed fol-lowed by addresses of welcome and responses and an interesting paper pa-per by Mrs. McKirahan and a splendid splen-did reading by an Ephraim lady and a well rendered piano rolo by a lady from Manti. Mr "'. E. Corfman, President of the Uii.li Federation of Women's Clubs gave an address bringing to the attention of those present the aims and purposes of the federated club movement and the results re-sults of a closer affliation of the various var-ious clubs in their respective dis tricts. She said "The general federation fed-eration in Amerca is composed of eration in America is composed of 2,000,000 of, which the Utah State federation is a part, with 3,500 women wo-men in our fifty-three clubs. The purpose is to bring together women of all creeds and classes who through united effort will work for the best interests of their communities. The women througout our land recognize the power of the organized and united unit-ed womanhood of America and" those who led. their aid toward the loyal support of the federated club movement move-ment lend their support to a movement move-ment that had its inception in loyalty and devotion to the public good, and though organization in each' state has been a great influence for civic 2 betterment and social progress for "tt aims to combine the present day activities with the rich inheritance m of the past through art, literature " and music and science." An invitation was extended to all ' groups of earnest women both young and old, to unite with the State Federation Fed-eration in Utah.' At 6 o'clock the ladies and their special guests were spated at a very excellent banquet at the High School building. During the banquet a beautiful program of musical selections selec-tions and toasts was carried out. The Misses Muriel Simpson, Eva Simpson, Gladys Ericksen, Maggie Frandsen and others furnished music, mu-sic, and the following toasts were given: Woman's Clubs of Utah: Mrs. Nelson Nel-son of Manti. Woman in War: Mrs. Emma West, Salina. Opportunity: Mrs. Madsen, Fountain Foun-tain Green. Our Country's Honor, Peace, Mrs. J. Y. Jensen, Ephraim. Inspiraton, Have You Found It? Mrs. A. C. Carter, Fairview. The Club Women of 100 Years From Now, Mrs. Villard, Gunnison. Remarks: Prof. Driggs. Women's Clubs: Mrs. Corfman. At 8:30 p. m. they convened at the North Ward Chapel. Mrs. George Christensen presiding. A lady from Salina sang two beautiful solos ami Prof. Howard R. Driggs gave an el"-quent el"-quent address which was followed hy a vocal solo, "Love In Spring," by Miss Bidwell of Wasatch Acadtiny. After a beautiful encore the following follow-ing resolutions were read' RESOLUTIONS Whereas, there have been assembled assem-bled today nine Clubs, at the invitation invita-tion of the Clubs of Mount Pleasant, and Whereas, the opportunity has been given for a better acquaintance and for mutual helpfulness, therefor.. Resolved, that we thank the President Presi-dent of the State Federation, Mrs. Corfman, for the inspiration of he'-presence, he'-presence, her instructive address and helpful information, Resolved, that we thank Prof. Dripgs for his elomient message to us in the interpretation of literature. Resolved, that we thank those who have made the program a pleasure i and success; the press and all who have in any way contributed to a i day which tends toward a closer re-i re-i lationship of the women of this part 1 of the state. Many were entertained during the evening by the ladies of this city and many were esconed home Sunday in automobiles. 1 here were about 120 ladies who came to Mount Pleasant for the convention. |
