Show Fairview On The Mat. A wrestling match was pulled off at the Athletic Club Tuesday evening even-ing between .A. E. Lay of Elsinore and Andrew Anderson of Fairview. They weie very evenly matched. Lay had the advantage in training and age, being twenty one years old , while Anderson was but nineteen years of age, having a little advantage advant-age in weight. After a half hour's hard work neither being able to gain any advantage, the match was declared de-clared a draw by the referee, Wilson of American Fork. Fairview will match anything in the county under 140 pounds, or anything under 160 pounds. One of the social events of the week, was a paity given at the home of Mrs. Andrew Lindquist, in honor of her son Carl's twenty first birthday. birth-day. The new orchestra furnished music and the dancing was greatly enjoyed. Dainty refreshments were served. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. W. Brady, Mary and Ethel Lindquist, Ethel Stewart, Loa Sanderson, Minta Norman, Mary Sundwall, Olof Sundwall, Frank Lar-sen, Lar-sen, J. L. Rawlins, Jack Christensen, Hjalmer Landgreen, and Aaron Cheney. The Ladies Literary club met at the home of Mrs. Fred Danielson Aug. 22nd. The lesson was given by Mrs. J. R. Graham and discussed by members. Mrs. Miner read part of "Evangelene". One new member was admitted and refreshments were served. The D'Arc girls were entertained at the home of Miss Ida Olsen last Wednesday evening an excellent luncheon was served and a pleasant time spent. Music and sewing was the order of the evening. They also planned a lawn party for Wednesday Aug. 28th. They will have a bon fire serve apples and peanuts and have a good old-fashioned romp. Last Thursday evening the Dor Oze girls entertained their boy friends at the home of Dot Christensen, games were played on the lawn and a nice lunch served, after which they went for a hayrack ride to Walter Cox's where they all had a good swing. Most of the girls are going away to school this winter so they will disband next Tuesday until another summer vacation. They will retire early, then get up at midnight and cook supper, which will consist of warm biscuits, pota toes, sauage, corn, etc. Alter supper sup-per they go to bed again and slumber slum-ber until morning., possibly later. Members only are invited. Elia A. Day jr., and Miss Lucile Madsen were married in Salt Lake Temple Wednesday Aug. 28th. They are among our most popular young people and we wish them success in their matrimonial journey through life. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Christensen of Salt Lake city visited relatives here last week. Mrs. Chas. Tucker came from Idaho, Ida-ho, this week, where she spent the past summer. Delon Cox of Orderville and Mr. and Mrs. Gideon Sidwell of Manti are visiting relatives in Fairview. Walter Hurst and family of Mexico Mexi-co arrived here last week. One of the twin babes of Mr. and Mrs. Burt Tucker passed away Aug. 22nd. The parents have the sympathy sympa-thy of the community. |
