Tired, unmaimed and unscarred, yet covered with the glory of successful suc-cessful technical warfare, the militia mili-tia boys returned last Friday evening even-ing from the recent war maneuvers near San Francisco. The boys came from San Francisco Francis-co over the Westean Pacific passing through the Feather river canyon in daylight and affording the Utah soldiers sold-iers an opportunity to view one of the west's most beautiful scenic canyons. can-yons. The trip to California, which began Aug. 9th, was made .over the Southern Pacific. This made the trip ( more interesting for the boys who had not had the opportunity to see 'V our western scenery over the Sierra Nevada mountains. On Monday of last week the boys were taken to San Francisco and the day was spent in sight seeing. It was a day of rejoicing and all the soldier boys used the day to remove the rough spots the hard days of the campaign had made. All San Francisco's Fran-cisco's attractions were visited by the guardsmen and their ''shore leave" was enjoyed thoroughly. Col. Gardener bestowed lavish praise on the Utah militiamen for inteligent work and fine spirit, Their conduct was soldierly and military mil-itary problems entrusted to them were carried out with a consideration considera-tion of all military situations presented pre-sented which won high praise from Col.
