Show NEW POSTMASTER GREETS EDITOR NEW OFFICER IS ADVISED TO KEEP HIS FOOT ON THE bOFT PEDAL AND ATTEND TO BUSINESS. To the utmost surprise of Darke McArthur last Monday morning he was greeted by the New Postmastei, L. P. Nelson, who had just officially taken the helm at the local office, in a manner that almost tipped him oil his feet. The editor was in receipt of a card from the Post Office Department, poorly addressed to the Publisher of the Mount Pleasant Pyramid, upon which was conveyed the message that his publication addressed to a subscriber, whose name was not plainly written, had removed to some place not designated. Not being able to read the name, the publisher asked ask-ed the New Postmaster what name was intended on the card. In reply to the inquiry Mr. Nelson said to the editor: "I want to thank you for the nice little write-up you gave me in the Pyramid, you can take your damned old paper and ." (unprintable language). a fine explaination of what was on the card from the department. The editor told Mr. Nelson that the best thing for him to do was to keep MUM and attend to business. But. if he really wanted to start something he would find McArthur at home. Again, the New Postmaster Post-master said: "It (meaning the Pyramid) is the only paper I ever knew that would use the photograph of an out going officer instead of using the photo of the new officer." The editor then informed the New Postmaster that Capt. Braby had been a good servant to the people of Mt. Pleasant for a good many years and deserved mention. In last week's issue of the Pyramid it was stated that Capt. Braby had been a very good Postmaster for the people of Mt. Pleasant and during his long service in the local office he has gained the love and good will of the people for the service which he has rendered to the public. And, it was also stated that L.P. Nelson had received his commission to act as Postmaster of Mount Pleasant and would take charge of the office on the first of the month. (Nothing more than facts.) What more could Nelson want? Did he want the ecTiCor to tell the readers of the Pyramid that the New Postmaster would be a better servant to the people than Capt. Braby had been, or did he want it mentioned that he had the reputation of being a grafter and one thoroughly ac-ciuainted ac-ciuainted with all the liquor traffic in the community? We have not been in the habit, of pointing out the faults of people, and furthermore, we are not in the habit of taking insults, and we never will. We not only advise the New Postmaster Post-master to keep his foot on the soft pedal and attend to business, but If he wants honey from the bees, DON'T KICK THE HIVE. |
