The securing of new factories can be promoted best by a liberal patronage of the ones already established. Utah has a splendid citizenship and among them are men who have had the hardihood, courage and faith to invest their means in enterprises that will take the products of the fields and mines and turn them h-to finished products. In doing th employment is being furnished loi thousands of people and if the peoph of the state will tones proper encouragement employment employ-ment will be furnished for the thou-sands thou-sands of hoys who are leaving our high schools and universities, and there will be absolutely no need of a single family leaving our midst. Vot onlv does the development of home industry furnish employment m the factores. bu' it creates p bigfer market for the raw materials grown on the farms and produced by m'nes. This in turn a larger demand for labor on the farms and in the mines. It make" necessary the reclaimation of great tracts of1 country. It opens new opportunities op-portunities for emploving highly trained and skilful workmen. a- I well as men who perform the hum j hler work of life. As an example of the immense value of factories to this state, consider con-sider the sugar industry. The value of lands has increased in the vicinity of every factory in the state; thousands thou-sands of people have found profit-jable profit-jable employment in raising sugar beets and turning these beets into he finished product. Millions of dollars have been distributed annually annu-ally and have found their way to every avenue of trade. There is . 0 part of the sta'e and perhaps no citizen in the state who has not been benefited in some degree because be-cause sugar factories have been -Wished. It is possible to increase in-crease this industry 4 00 per cent, rianpete county today needs a sugar ' :Ctory and it is only a question of ime when this county will be able to support a factory. j( is not 0,lly possible to increase the sugar industry indus-try 400 ppr cent, but there is practically practi-cally no industry established which i may not be increased nv.i lori'iiu- ' not to speak of the many industries which are not yet represented here. The incident of families go;nc away is strong proof of rhe need of sustainng the factories winch we have at present and thus cn-rouragine cn-rouragine rew tacor cs to loca e here. The young men of this state possess the innate ability to solve the problems that confront us. The work of the Commercial Club of Salt Lake City demonstrates how thoroughly and efl"n:ien'ly our people can work together whn -hev put forth the effort. When all the people unite with such co nmercial bodies and work togethpr shoulder to shoulder, very much greater results mav be expected.
