This is the effect of a communication communica-tion from Secretary Bryan to Ameri can Consul Simplch at Nogales, who has presented the information to General Gen-eral Carranza. A reply was In the hands of Secretary Bryan Friday night, but he did not make it public. Reports from constitutionalist sources say that General Carranza's reply indicated in-dicated he would give the United States the information desired. Mr. Bryan, it is said, did not reply directly to the recent note of Carranza Car-ranza on the Benton case, but set forth the wish of the American government gov-ernment with respect to a Spanish citizen for whom the Spanish ambassador ambas-sador had asked the United States to secure protection. The communication communi-cation pointed out that nations which had recognized Huerta could not deal with the constitutionalists except through the United States. |
