Show Here's The Bootlegger's Newest Obstacle The last legislature passed a bill prohibiting the shipment of intoxicating intoxi-cating liquors into dry 'territory. This bill goes into effect May 10th, 1915. It is herewith givsn in full: Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Utah. Section 1. No license issued under the laws of this State to sell intoxicating intoxi-cating liquors shall authorize any person, firm or corporation, dealer or agent, to sell or solicit, take or receive orders to deliver, any intoxicating intoxi-cating liquors in any county, city or town within this State, where the sale of intoxicating liquors is prohibited pro-hibited by law, and it shall be unlawful unlaw-ful for any person, firm, corporation, ' deafer or agent to sell or solicit, take or receive orders, for, or for the delivery de-livery of, or to deliver any intoxicating intoxica-ting liquors in any county, city or town within this State, where the sale of intoxicating liquors is prohib-itated prohib-itated by law; provided, that the terms of this section shall not apply to any sales of intoxicating liquors to a licensed pharmacist or druggist, or to any deliveries of intoxicating to a licensed pharmacist or druggist, at the place of business of such licensed li-censed pharmacist or druggist. Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation, dealer or agent in this State to deliver de-liver intoxicating liquors to any common com-mon carrier within this State for shipment to any point within this State where the sale of intoxicating liquors is prohibited by law; provided that the terms of this section shall not apply to any such deliveries to a licensed pharmacist or druggist. Section 3. It shall be unlawful for any common carrier, or any agent or employ (employee) thereof to knowingly receive intoxicating liquors liq-uors at any point within this State for consignment to any point in this State, where the sale of intoxicating liquors is prohibited by law, or with such knowledge, to transport intoxicating intoxi-cating liquors from such point of consignment con-signment to any point in this State where the sale of intoxicating liquors if prohibitated by law, or to deliver intoxicating liquors which have been consigned to any point in this State where the sale of intoxicating liquors is prohibited by law; provided, that the terms of this section shall not. apply to shipments consigned or transported to a licensed pharmacist or druggist, at the place of business of such licensed pharmacist or druggist. drug-gist. Section 4. Any natural person, who shall in any way violate anr of ' the provisions of this Act, shali bo punished by a fine of not more than $1000.00 or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than twelve months. If any corporation shall, in any way, violate any of the provi- sions of this Act, it shall be punished punish-ed by a fine of not less than $500.00 nor less than $1,000.00. In case of a conviction of a licensed brewer, distiller, wholesale or retail dealer whether a natural person or a corporation, corpor-ation, of a violation of any of the provisions of the Act, the court in addition to imposing the penally aforesaid, shall also declare the license li-cense of such licensee forfieted. |
