Show Sheepmen Loyal to Their Interests t A well attended meeting of Mt Pleasant wool . growers was held last Saturday evening. The purpose of the meeting was to learn the sentiment sen-timent of local growers as to intention inten-tion of the Bureau of Animal Industry Indust-ry to require spring dipping here-', here-', after. The meeting after a thorough disscussion of the matter, went on recort unanimously against the proposed pro-posed innovation. Amoung other matters discussed by those present was that of the present condition of the industry. The need of a strenuous campaign in behalf of the business was appreciated appreciat-ed by all present and a determination determin-ation soon reached that action should be taken locally in that direction. direc-tion. Accordingly a committee was appointed to solicit funds at the rate of $2.00 per thousand sheep owned, same to be used in the future to assisit the sheepmen's cause and to help in the fight to be waged for better freight rates, in settling the grazing fee proposition, and to secure se-cure a just and equitable tarrif settlement. set-tlement. Commitce, consisting of S. E. Jensen, Jen-sen, John H. Seely and Jos. C. Jor dan, has canvassed the town since the meeting and reports that every sheep grower approached has responded res-ponded to the call made, not a single one refusing. In addition to this it is learned that not only are sheep of other parts of the state railing to their own suppoi t in this way but that many of the big business institutions in-stitutions of the state are doing the same thing and that from s. financial finan-cial standpoint the campaign that is coming up will unquestionably be in first class shape when the time for action arrives. This is due to the fact that all classes of citizens of the state recognize the importance import-ance of the industry to the state as a whole, and that they sense the danger that now faces it. --xS |
