Show Utah Newspaper Men Hold Annual Meeting Members of tne Utah Newspaper Association, representing more than 30 papers of the State met at the Commercial club rooms in Salt Lake City; Saturday; Feb. 21. 1914, and for three hours discussed the problems prob-lems confronting newspapermen of the State Many enthusiastic speeches were made on the outlook and the publishers were united in declaring de-claring themselves in iavo- of a vigorous vig-orous policy of publicity for building up Utah's resources. The regular election of officers was held and resulted in the unanimous unani-mous choice of J. S. Barlow, editor of the American Eagle of Murray for president; Buke McArthur editor of the Mt. Pleasant Pyramid, vice president; C. A. Epperson, manager of the Kaysville Reflex, secretary; and Royal Jepperson, editor of the Bo5 Elder Journal, treasurer. C. E. Huish of the Eureka Reporter was re-elected a member of the advertising ad-vertising committee for three years. The problem of obtaining advertis ingfrom the merchants and manu facturers of Utah concerns in prefer ance to accenting contracts from for eign advertisers was taken up by Charles England of Logan, J. S. Bar low of Murray, H. C. Hicks and I. H. Masters of Provo, Burke McArth ur of Mt. Pleasant and W. P. Epper son of Kaysville. Following the dis cussion J. S. Barlow was selected to wait upon the manufacturers of the state in the interest of the country press. |
