Show MEXICANS FIRE ON TROOPERS. Americans Said to Have Returned Fire and Drove Assailants to Cover. El Paso, Texas. A detachment of troops from troop H, Second Cavalry, were fired upon late Saturday afternoon after-noon by Mexican federal cavalrymen, the Americans being on duty patrolling patroll-ing the international boundary, about fifteen miles east of El Paso. None of the Americans were wounded. Two Texas rangers who were nearby were also fired at bv the Mexicans. United States army officers stated that their troops did not return the federals' fire, although there were abonr forty shots fred at them. H. L. Rhodes, who was nearby when the Mexicans began shooting, stated that the American troopers did return re-turn the fire and drove the Mexicans to cover. It is not known whether there were any of the Mexicans injured. |
