Show Express Co., Will Compete Com-pete with Parce IPost Effective JFebruary 1, 1914, the Wells Fargo and Company Express announce a change in rates affecting affect-ing Inter-State business. This means virtual competition with the Parcel Post rates, in some cases reducing re-ducing present rates materially, the new method of figuring eharges being more simple than the old method. On Chicago a present 10 pound package will cost $1.35, new rates will be 86 cents. Froni New York a 10 pound package now is $1.40, new rates will cost 9G cents, better than 30 per cent in the first case and 31 per cent in the latter. All Express matter involves liability on the part of the carrier, ar. a maximum max-imum valuation of $50.00 or 50 cents per pound on shipments in excess of 100 pounds unless a greater value is declared and higher rates paid for. Hereafter merchandise will be specified under First and Second classes, 1, 1 1-2, 2, and so on. times first class. |
