Show MOTHER 'JONES BEHIND BARS. Taken to Hospital by Militiamen, Where She is Held Incommunicado. Trinidad, Colo. "Mother" Mary Jones, strike leader, who was deported de-ported from the southern coal fields January 4 by the militia, returned to Trinidad Monday morning from Denver. Den-ver. As soon as her presence here was learned by the military j authorities authori-ties she was arrested and taken to the San Rafael hospital, where she was held incommunicado. "Mother" Jones left the train at the outskirts of Trinidad and later appeared at a local hotel. She was arrested shortly before noon by a detail of state troops, hurried out of the hotel, placed in an automobile and whirled through the streets, with a cavalry ascort galloping at full speed in front and behind the machine. - Several hundred coal mine strikers strik-ers lined the streets on either side md cheered wildly, while "Mother" Jones waved her hand in response. |
