On Thursday evening Sept. 11, s party was tendered the retiring bis hopric, by the new bishopric and f large number of the m ?mbers of the ward. A meeting was held in the new chapel where an excellent program pro-gram of music, songs, and speeches was rendered. Former Bishop Jame? C. Peterson and counsellors Samue Bills and Peter Peterson were eacl presented with a large leather rocker rock-er of excellent style and upholstery The presentation speech was giver by Peter Sundvvall and was followed by speeches from those receiving the chairs, all of whom spoke with feeling feel-ing of their past labors in the ward and felt to thank the people for the honor bestowed upon them. Refreshments Re-freshments consisting of ice cream, cake and punch were s?rved in the basement to nearly three hundred and fifty people who enjoyed the occassicn. On the eve of Sept. 12, Prof. J. T. hand of the Snow Academy, assisted by Prof. Kenneth Roylance, Lavar Jensen and the Misses Anderson and Nielson gave an excellent concert at Fairview which was much enjoyed by a large audience. Profs. Noyes and Jensen, accampanied the musicians musi-cians and made short speeches. Arthur Peterson, Lewis Peterson, Pat. Floyd and Jessie Young and Henry Terry, Mamie Madsen, Elva Madsen and Maud Christensen went to school this week at the Snow Academy and about six more will go from here next week. Mr. Alva Zabriska and family visited vis-ited friends here last week. Mr. Zabriska was formerly one of our townsmen but now resides at Spi ins ville. Mr. M. O. Miner of Provo visited relatives here last week". Mrs. Christina Anderson of Moroni Mor-oni and Mrs. Zina Hall of Wales were Fairview visitors last week. Mrs. David Reese of Wales is the guest of Mrs. Frank Cox and is visiting visit-ing relatives here. Dr. David Edmunds has located at Fairview and has taken Dr. Earles place. Dr. Edmunds graduated from Rush Medical College, last Spring and remained there during the summer sum-mer doing work in the hospital. Dr. Edmunds comes highly rpcommend- Nephi Cruser went to Salt LaKe City Friday Sept. 12th, and was operated op-erated upon at the L, D. S. Hospital Hospit-al for abcess caused by ulcerated teeth. It was considered a very serious ser-ious case. He is reported doing well and is expected home in a few days. Monta Nodstrom, the son of Gust Nodstromwas taken to the Winter's Hospital on Monday the 15th and was operated upon for appendicitis. He is reported to be improving. The six year old son of Osborn Carlston died at Murry Monday the 15th, and wi.s brought to Fairview for burial the 16th. The funeral services were held in the meeting house. F. G. Danielson, Peter Sund-wall, Sund-wall, and Bishop H. P. Hansen were the speakers who gave consoling remarks re-marks to the bereaved. |
