Show FINAL CONTESTS HELD AT MANTI The Mutual Improvement associations associa-tions from the three stakes, Sevier, South Sanpete and North Sanpete, met in contest at Manti last Saturday Satur-day afternoon. L. R. Anderson of the M. I. A. presidency of the South Sanpete Stake, presided. The boys' chorus of Sevier stake and South Sanpete San-pete tied, ao both were asked to compete com-pete at the final try-out in Salt Lake. There were but two entries in the advanced ad-vanced orations, Miss Cleo Lund of the North Sanpete Stake and Ray Lund of South Sanpete. Miss Lund was the first speaker and chose for hpr ciiliipct "Tho Kind of a Man thf Twentieth Century Demands." Mr. Lund spoke on "Mora! Courage Our Nation's Asset." The judges awarded award-ed the first place to Miss Lund of Mt. Pleasant. In the Retold stories- for junior classes, Miss Reva Riddle of South Sanpete won first place and told the "Story of a String." An original story, "The Child's Mission," was the subject chosen by Miss Reta Bell of Sevier, who was swarded second place. For -the girl's choruses, Sevier, Se-vier, North Sanpete and South Sanpete San-pete stakes entered. This contest was won by the Sevier stake. In the evening South Sanpete carried car-ried off the honors in the male quartet, quar-tet, and the double mixed quartet. Sevier stake took first place in the ladies' quartet, and also won through its representative. Miss Pearl Christensen. Chris-tensen. in the senior class oration. Her subject was "Birthright." |
