Show That depraved murderer, Joseph Hillstrom, has been granted a new leaso of life until October Octo-ber lGth, ut least, because of the "butting in" of President Wilson. Most of those who have followed fol-lowed tho case will agree with Park City's Record, Rec-ord, which commends nnd approves the action of Gov. William Spry for his attitude in this now famous case. Ho could neither be bluffed nor frightened by threats of tho infamous organization organiza-tion of I. W. W., and would have allowed the law to tako its course, had not n request been made by the president for a respite for the condemned criminal, in order to allow the Swedish minister to further Investigate. While perhaps it is "better "bet-ter to be safe than sorry," it is our candid opinion opin-ion that It would have been fnr better had President Presi-dent Wilson kept his nose out of Utah state affairs, af-fairs, and thus allowed tho carrying out of n just sentence. However, it is only a brief stay of execution that has been granted by Governor Spry, and justico will be surely meted out to tho perpetrator of a most dastardly murder, who shot down in cold blood n devoted husband nnd father and his small son. |
