Citizens of Price hue been bmy for the ,wst MXcrnl ,,,. col. lecting data as to shipments of freight that have been go ng to the he year The fact, gathered resulted in the following representn-lions representn-lions being made by a committee acting for the citizens to the state road commission at Salt Like City: First It is the only road into the reservation country which can be traxeled all the year round. It has a roadbed most of the way of the best, and where the roadbed is not in good shape road material consisting of shale and other good road materials are easily accessible. The elevation Is two thousand feet lower than any other road into the Basin. For thirty-two years this road has been the main artery for moving mov-ing freight into and out of the Basin, for other roads are Impassable Im-passable the greater part of each year. The distance from Myton to Price over this route Is nbout the same as the distance dis-tance to Myton by way of the Willow Creek to Duchesne route. Second Along the course of the Price to Myton road is much cultivated land and many stockraiscrs who are nerved by it. These land owners and cattlemen arc very heavy taxpayers, tax-payers, and have practically maintained the road in the past at their own expense. Third The entire east side of Duchesne county and the west side of Uintah county, as well as a large percentage of Vernal and Ashley Valley, use the Price to Myton road. Fourth For your information we have compiled the following fol-lowing statistics concerning Incoming and outgoing freight that has gone over the Price to Myton route, notwithstanding the fact that there has been practically no work done on the Price to Myton road, while large amounts have been expended on the Helper to Duchesne route.
