Utah's Agricultural College nt Logan has written writ-ten a letter to The Sun declaring it to be n lamentable la-mentable fact thnt over 50 per cent of the natural production of the average orchard and garden Is being wasted in Utah for want of some slmplo wny of taking care of these products. Tho littlo portablo cnuners will save most of this waste and encourage more and better canning at home, as all tho members of tHo family will tako an interest inter-est in tho work, or at least offer their assistance. "Every well regulnted farm home should have a home canner of somo description, If nothing more than an ordinnry wash boiler. It Is quite as important ns the milk separator or fanning mill. Every child should ba taught tho art of :nnning, either nt homo or In the canning clubs, and every school Bhould have n canning outfit ns part of its equipment. "Tho day is not far distant when every family will have its canning nnd preserving days as it 'now hns its harvesting and threshing days, when nil the members of tho fnmily will put aside other work and nttend to tho canning of fruits nnd vegetables for winter use." |
