Edwards welcomed iguests at an openhouse Wednesday evening at the First-Fifth Pleasant Grove Ward. Honoring the couple was the groom's mother, Mrs. Clara P. Edwards and other members of the family. The young Mr. and Mrs. were married! in ElDorado, Kansas, October 7 and came to Utah Jo make their home following follow-ing Mr. Edwards discharge from the U.S. Air Force. The lovely bride, the former Audine Cody, is the daughter of Mrs. Noirma Gruver and Lee Cody of El Dorado. At the openhouse Wednesday evening, the bride greeted her new friends and relatives in a white wool sheath dress and -pinned White gardenias to her shoulder. The groom's mother chose to wear a navy -blue afternoon dress, and she -wore a white gardenia nested in pink 'carnations. A beautiful five-tiered pink 'and white wedding cake made by .the groom's mother captured attention. atten-tion. A lace-heart topped the love-lyl love-lyl acy creation in which stood a bride and groom in miniature. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marrott and Mi and Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Bradley greeted guests as they arrived. ar-rived. The gifts were displayed by Mrs. Odessa Chester and Mrs. Gertrude Voorhees. Gift listing was made by Sue Chester. Small gift bearers were Lee Ray Edwards, Ed-wards, a brother of the groom, and Carolyn Voorhees. Guests were served by Mrs. Tal Thomas, Mrs. Vivian Bezzant and Mrs. George Barton with Mary Lee Thomas and Judy Barton assisting. as-sisting. A clever variety program was heard during the evening with the master of ceremonies being an uncle of the groom, George W. Johnson. Program numbers included includ-ed a cello solo by Mrs. Warren Kirk accompanied by Jennie Glea-son; Glea-son; a tribute to the bridal couple by Mrs. Samuel Jackson; vocal duets by Clyde Pyper and 'his twin sister, Mrs. Chloe Finlayson, who are aunt and uncle of the groom; a dance number by Murial Ann Gilbert; amusing anecdotes by Mrs. Jennie Johnson, aunt of the groom; a song by Jolene Rasband, his cousin; and a vocal duet by Bobby Jean Duvall and Mrs. Nielsen. |
