Show Sequoia Tncn Of the Sequoia trees there fire two species, the redwood ;md the Uig-Tree (Oi.-jnl Sequoia). 'J'he redwood red-wood will reproduce it:;elf from the slump, and has been known to grow to a height of BO feet and a diameter of Hi inches in '.',) years. The wood contains no pitch and much water, and in a ureen condition con-dition will not burn. Thus while surrounding forests may be destroyed de-stroyed by forest fires, the red-.woods red-.woods remain unscathed. The Giant Sequoia grow to greater great-er height and diameter than the redwood. One tree is 325 feet tall, and measures 35.7 feet four feet above the ground. Many of the trees are estimated to be 2,500 years old, trees which were already growing while the Egyptians were building the Pyramids. |
