"The school is staffed and equipped to meet the increased in-creased enrollment that is inevitable in-evitable with the return of peace, when young men and women again turn their attention atten-tion toward constructive education educa-tion instead of war." Important dates marking the beginning of the Autumn Quarter are as follows: Thursday, September 6 English Eng-lish and college aptitude tests for all new students. The decision of the United States Navy to establish a training unit here was made only a few days ago. For the present, training in the NROTC is open only to enlisted navy personnel. "An important peacetime mission mis-sion of the University," President Presi-dent Cowles continued, "is the training and rehabilitation of Veterans of World War II. Two programs are offered. "The Servicemen's Readjustment Training Program, better known as the "G. I." training program, provides education for men and women who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States during the present war, and whose education has been delayed or impeded. "Veterans with a medical disability dis-ability resulting from service in the present war and who are certified for vocational rehabilitation rehabili-tation are eligible under the Veteran's Rehabilitation Training Train-ing Program. "In the training and rehabilitation rehabili-tation of war veterans", President Presi-dent Cowles points out, ' "the , University has a serious responsibility respon-sibility as well as a great opportunity oppor-tunity for service to the state." All who are interested in any phase of the University program for the coming year are invited to write to the office of the President, University of Utah, in Salt Lake City. |
