Show FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED FOR IONA CHAMBERLAIN SMITH Touching and impressive funeral funer-al services were conducted Thursday Thurs-day afternoon for Mrs. Iona C. Smith. The 2nd Ward chapel was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends who came to pay respect to the memory of the beloved young mothre and express sympathy sympa-thy for her family. The services directed 'by Bishop C. R. Clark, opened with a vocal duet, "Resignation" sung by Mrs. inson, accompanied by Mrs. Mary Humphries. Invocation was asked by Reed O. Walker of the Sec-' ond Ward Bishopric -f This was followed by another vocal number by Mrs. Chipman and Mr. Robinson, "There is Light Beyond the Shadows." A tribute to lone, written by Elsie Chamberlan Carroll was read by Mrs. Amanda Pugh. The first speaker was Wm. E. Berrett, an intimate friend of the Chamberlain family and former for-mer Seminary teacher of Mrs. .Smith, who paid tribute to the fine character of the departed and gave fine thoughts on the life to come. Miss Estelle Fenton spoke words of faith and hope in the face of trials, and read a tribute to Mrs. , ;-i'hii by the nurses at the American Fork hospital, where Mrs. Smith spent the last months of her life. Burton H. Adams was the next speaker and closed his encouraging encourag-ing talk by reading "The Clock of Life." Instrumental music interspersing interspers-ing the speakers were an organ solo '"Trauarei" by Jennie Gleas-on, Gleas-on, two violin duets,,' "Berceuse" from Jocelyn and "When My Caravan Car-avan Has Rested" by Marilyn Richards and Dawn Marie Adams; Closing remarks of sympathy find appreciation were made by Bishop C. R. Clark. "Benediction was pronounced by Harry S. Richards and dedicatoi-y prayer in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery was offered - "by Anton Gleason. Pall bearers included Guy Hillmah, Harvey Smith, Blaine Richards, LeRoy Smith, Gordon Carlson and George Bowen 1 Mrs. Smith, wife of Ernest P. Smith,.. died Monday, February 28 in the American Pork hospital, after several months illness. |
