Show With The Service Men. , Word was received '"iiursday' by Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Bastian from their son Wayne Bastian that he is now in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Dak-ota, attending the University of North Dakota, where he is reciev-ing reciev-ing training as an Aviation Cadet. Young Bastian reports that the school is a wonderful place to receive rece-ive training and he is enjoying the new assignment. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick have ben advised that their son Private Merrill Eldredge Warnick, has passed tests and requirements army specialized training program, and has been entered for training at Stanford University. Private Warnick, recently completed his basic training at Camp Roberts as a gunner. Word was received by his parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Green of Pleasant Gorve that their son Nyle L. Green, 17, has been promoted pro-moted from Seaman Second Class to Petty Officver Third Class. He has just graduated from the Naval Air Technical Training Center at Norman, Okla., and has been transferred tran-sferred to the Naval Air Gunner's School at Purcell, Okla. He enlisted in December 1942, at Provo. Private First Class Dean Cob-bley Cob-bley left for his station at San Diego, California on Sunday, after spending a fifteen day furlough here with his wife and child, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Cobbley. His wife, Mrs. Reva Gill-man Gill-man Cobbley and young son returned re-turned with Viim to San Diego. Scott Field, 111. Corporal Bert D. Bunnell, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Kunnril, Tleasant Grove, has arrived arriv-ed at this Army Air Force Training Command post where he- will receive rece-ive an intensive course in radio operating to fit him for duty as a member of a tir-Min? bomber crew. Purina: his traininc: period here. Corporal Bunnell will be tested by experts as to aptitudes for special types of work and when his course is finished he will be sent to more advanced training centers which are part of the vast network of traininc command schools. Sherman Varney of the U. S. Navy is here on leave from Farragut, Farra-gut, Idaho, visiting with his wife, Mrs. Mary Christianson Varney and other relatives here and in A-merican A-merican l'ork. Corporal Benarr Smith is enjoying enjoy-ing a furlough here with relatives and friends. Corporal Smith is stationed at Tonopah, Nevada, to which place he will return on Aug. 23rd. Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Vera Cullimore from their son Forerst that he began his flight taining on Wednesday of this week. Young Cullimore is attending at-tending the Montana State College at Missoula, Montana. Edgar Smith, son of Mrs. LeRue Smith of this city, has recently been appointed Corporal. Corporal Smith was inducted into the U. S. Army on June 8, the same day on which he graduated and received his Batchelor of Science degree from the University of Utah. He is stationed at the induction center in Salt Lake City and at Boise, Idaho, spending part of his time at either place. His wife is a student at Henegar's Business College in Salt Lake City. Wesley Washburn of the Army Air Corps, who is spending a furlough fur-lough with friends in Utah spent Friday and Saturday visiting Mrs. Ellen Hebcrtson and other relat-ves relat-ves here. Mr. Washburn is stationed stat-ioned in Florida. Seaman Charles W. Christian-son Christian-son of Farragut, Idaho, is here enjoying en-joying a short honeymon with his bride, Nee Gloria Marie Maynard, whom he married early this week. Seaman Christiansen will return to Farragut, August 17. Other Navy boys visisting here from Farragut, Idaho, are David Baxter, son of Harold Baxter of Windsor and Leon Gordon, also f Windsor, who is visiting here with his wife and his mother Mrs. Ethel Gordon. |
