Show PLEASANT GROVE OLD FOLKS WERE ROYALLY ENTERTAINED ON SATURDAY The Old Folks party and banquet ban-quet held Saturday in the First ward chapel and amusement hall was well arranged and carried out to the last detail. The guests assembled for greetings greet-ings and handshaking at 11 o'clock. o'-clock. A short informal program conducted by Stake Chairman Thos Fenton was enjoyed, Community Com-munity singing was directed by Irwin Jensen and accompanied by Rulon Brimhall. A harmonica and guitar medley was given by Owen Christiansen. Mrs. Annie Loader Tucker 85 years of age, sang "Silver Threads Among the Gold." Humorous readings were given by Mrs. Lurena Warnick, Miss Carol Christianson and Miss Beverly West. An organ solo by Rulon Brimhall was followed by a vocal duet by Misses Dorothy and Joyce Phillips. The delicious and sumptious banquet was served at 12.30 in the recreation hall, where xylophone xylo-phone music was furnished by Mrs. Anna Fugal Bailey; a radio program was conducted and a stunt by young people of the 1st of candy were awarded to the man who has been the longest long-est time a resident of Pleasant Grove E. F. Walker; to the lady who had lived in Pleasant Grove the longest Mrs. Elinor D. West; 1 the longest time a widower, Alon-zo Alon-zo Huntsman; the longest while a widow Mrs. Janette Jackson; mother of the largest family, Mrs. Anna Hall, the mother of 16 children. child-ren. A vocal duet was sung by Mrs. Orpha Mecham and Mrs. Maurine Allen, accompanied by Mrs. Effie Adams. Later In the afternoon the guests were taken to the Grove Theater where they enjoyed the picture "Johnny Go Lightly." The old folks committee is to be highly commended for the able way in which the whole affair was handled, and everyone present pronounced it one of the best ever. |
