Show PL Grove Woman To Observe 70th Birthday Ann. Wednesday August 14 will be open house to the many relatives and friends of Mrs. Berly Ellis West Williams. Mrs. Williams was born in Pleasant Grove, August 14, 1876. Her parents, Alexander and Marie Ellsworth Ellis were among the oldest settlers of the town. Since Since childhood Berly has enjoyed being a part of the activities a'bout her. At the age of four she sang "Hang Up the Baby's Stocking" Stock-ing" at a Christmas program in Clark's Opera House. Years later she won "the first bible given for ten years regular attendance at Sunday school and at the age af six she knitted her own hose. On October 2, 1S94, she was married to Benjam.in West. To i hem were born three children, Ilertram, Belva and Florence, all of whom have been a real credit lo their home and communities In which they live. They owe much lo Ihoir devoted mother .and rather. Berly helped Ben build their home. Four large soft rocks laid under native pine stringers were used for foundation, which has held for over 50 years, She still lives In her original home and loves it dearly. Her deep gratitude grat-itude for all her blessings is a real Inspiration. On February 7, 1937, Mr. West passed away. On August 10, 1940 she marled Frank A. Williams, who has taken great pride in furthering fur-thering one or her hobbies, that ol' grow ins beautiful flowers and in beautifying the home. They freely share their flowers with the sick, Church and Sunday , school and weddings. She was on the decorating committee for funerals fun-erals for five years and has always al-ways been on hand to assist in lime or trouble. Mrs. "Williams home Is a treasure treas-ure house of historic relics and inomeutos and priceless pieces of handiwork which gives her joy to display to her friends. Few people .except those to whom she has generously give, aid really know the true worth of this good woman. She has tirelessly tire-lessly ministered to be sick, given firs aid and been Instrumental in saving many lives. She has taken hundreds of gifts 0f food, clothing cloth-ing and bedding to the needy. At 70 she still drives her own car. Is active, entluiiastlc and interesting. inter-esting. Her many friends wish her happiness and many more joyful joy-ful birthdays. |
