Show Pleasant Grove Birthday Program was A Great Success . One of the best attended and cnjoyeii program ipi- ciiy has Vie:.', i ..; a, i : . . -i. : '. ..in Grove Ninety-Third Birthday party held Sunday evening in the fimpanogos Slake Tabernacle. With D. U. P. President Myrtle D. Boren in charge, the program opened with the congregation singing, sing-ing, "Come, Come Ye Saints" led by Chorister Mrs. Cleone Kirk and accompanied by Mrs. Mary Neves. In her address of welcome, Mrs. Boren paid tribute to real pioneers, Mrs. Anna Johnson, Mrs. Mary Olson and George Shoell, and read the names of many native pioneers. Mayor Duane Harper gave high lights of Pleasant Grove's history up to date, and a forecast of the citv's future for the next few years. County D. U. P. President Pearl Olson, urged that we tell the stories stor-ies of the Pioneers to the children and thus keep alive the spirit of the pioneers. County Historian Emma Huff asked that all daughters of Pioneers Pion-eers have the history of their pioneer pion-eer ancestors written and preserved. preser-ved. President W. W. Warnick spoke on the value of the D. U. P. organisation organi-sation in collecting and recording early Utah history. Dr. Howard R. Driggs, talked on the need for marking historical spots, stressing the fact that the future of Pleasant Grove, possibly lies more in its historial background back-ground than in any other source. Dr.. Driggs continued his part of the program with beatifully colored color-ed moving pictures of the Mormon pior.ee r trail, beginning with Palmyra, Palm-yra, New York, to Kirtland, Inde- pendence, and ther.ee to Nauvoo; the pictures of the Carthage- jail; the Rebecca Winters grave on the plains and over the Rocky Mountains Moun-tains to the Salt Lake Valley. The second series of pictures followed the old Indian Trail a-rou.nd a-rou.nd Timpanogos, also scenes of the trail and people of today. Special music was furnished by Mrs. H. R. Driggs. who sang old time songs, part of which was accompanied ac-companied liy a string trio inclu-dng inclu-dng Romona and Winona Monson Zoe Adams. Mrs. Ethel Carlson and Mrs. LenLne Told sang "Way Out Tn The West" accompanied hv Mrs. Marv Neves. Benediction was pronounced bv Ezra F. "Walker, a native pioneer.
