Show BUYS NEW PLANES Two of the 168-passenger Lockheed Lock-heed Constitutions, world's largest , transports, have been purchased by j the navy at a cost of 27 million dol- j lars and will be turned over to naval air transport service for trans-Pacific operations in about a year. The Constitution, a 92-ton. 4-engined 4-engined craft, made its maiden flight recently at Burbank, Calif. It is expected that in five years or less the first commercial models, probably with gas turbine engines, should appear. |
