Show JOHN PETERSON DIES IN CALIFORNIA Local friends.. wereshocked and .grieved to hear of the death of John C. Peterson, a former resident resi-dent of this city, and now an apprentice ap-prentice seaman at the Marine .station at Avalon, Santa Catilina .Island, California. No details were given in the telegram tele-gram received by his mother, Mrs. Nancy Peterson of Provo, from the Commandant at the Training '.'Station. The young man's family lived Ihere a few years ago, where John leceved his early education, until following John father's death, when J -the family moved to Provo, where W graduated froriTEhe Provd" High School and for two years attended the B. Y. U. and won Freshman numerals as a wrestler. He was active in the Fifth Ward Priesthood and boy scout work. Mr, Peterson entered the U. S. Merchant Marine on January 10th of this year, and had been station-loned station-loned at the Santa Catalina base for more than a month. He is survived by his mother, THrs.
