D. S. hospital, Salt Lake. The operation oper-ation was not serious and Mrs. Adamson is doing nicely. Mrs. N- A. WinK, who about three weeks ago fell and broke an arm, is feeling much better. Mrs. Wing fell about a year ago and broke her arm and the break this tima is practically practi-cally in the same place. A real "Believe-it-or-not" story came to light this week. Mrs. S. F. Grant was sitting in her home when she heard something bump into the roof of the house" with such force as to make quite a noise. She rushed outside to see what had happened and "belive-it-or-not" there in the doorway lay a beautiful big pheasant pheas-ant just gasping its last. The fowl evidently had been winging its way peacefully along and probably became be-came confused and smashed into the house. Anyway the bird was a choice morsel on the Tuesday dinner din-ner menu. Two small children of La Verl Adamson had their tonsils removed Tuesday at the office of Dr. K. E. Noyes and both are making good recovery. re-covery. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Cowdell of Cop-p;rton Cop-p;rton were guest shere Sunday of Mr- and Mrs. Norman Draper. On Friday last, Mrs. Draper's brother, Douglas Shumway and wife of Lin-don Lin-don visited them here. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Julian of Salt Lake visited here the first of the week with Mrs. Jane Greenwood and Miss May Greenwood. Mrs-Greenwood Mrs-Greenwood has been quite ill but is now improving- Twenty-five members of the two camps of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers of this city were in attendance attend-ance last Saturday at the county convention held at Provo. Among those from out of city who attended the funeral services of Miss Feryl Beck here Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Smith, Mrs. J. C. Oit, Carol and Ivan Orr, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Orr, of Salt Lake; Mr-and Mr-and Mrs. Val Wixom of Brigham City; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Huf faker of Midway; Mrs. Golda Sorenson and daughter Jean of Bingham; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hicken of Heber; Mr. and Mrs- Earl Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. William, Ogden; Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell, Mrs. Joe Benson, Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm. Orr, Magna. Mrs. Mayme Hill and Miss Melba Barratt spent last week-end in Salt Lake City. Miss Barratt attended a nurses convention and Mrs. Hill visited with friends. Mr. and Mrs. William R. Hansen and son, Cecil Ray, with Mr. and Mrs- William Mock of Salt Lake, were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Stubbs of Provo. Mrs. Eli J. Clayson received a wire the morning of Hallowe'en announcing announc-ing the birth of a baby son to Mr. and Mrs. Sherman T. Wright of Twin Falls, Idaho. Mrs. Wright is a daughter of Mrs. Clayson and Mr. Wright a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ear Wright of this city. j Mr. and Mrs. S. Merrihew of Salt I Lake were dinner guests here Sun- I day of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lee. j John H. Singleton arrived Monday j from Gandy, Utah, to join his wi:e who has been visiting here. Mr. I Singleton will spend a few days here ! with relatives. j I A birthday dinner was given by Mrs. Ferren Soger November 1st, honoring her husband. Guests were the parents of both, Mr. and Mrs. Healey of Alpine, Mr. and Mrs. John Sager of this city. The 78 th birthday of Mrs. Mary Ann Boley was the occasion for a birthday surprise party at her home Saturday night. There were twenty present and all enjoyed social chat and a tasty lunch. Mrs. Grace Coates left Thursday for San Francisco, to be with her daughter, Miss Emma Coates, who recently was operated upon for appendicitis. ap-pendicitis. Mrs. Coates will also visit another daughter, Mrs. Foster Merrill, and will probably remain until Christmas. Mr. and Mi's. G. M. Graham of Wallsburg are the proud parents of a winsome daughter, born October 27th. The mother was formerly Miss June Crystal of this city. Mother and babe are reported doing nicely , at the home of Mrs. Graham's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Crystal. Mrs. Adair Bromley was hostess to the Variety Club last Friday night at her home. Two tables of bridge were played, Miss Lillie Shafter and Mrs. Wilson Cunningham winning the high score prizes. A dainty lunch was served. There were eight members mem-bers and Mrs. Vern Boley, a special guest present. The Relief Society officers and teachers of the Third ward held a preparation meeting at the home of Mrs. Zora Zabriskie Monday night. Following a discussion of business problems the meeting was turned into in-to a social and a delicious lunch was served by the hostess. There were fifteen present. Friends here of Lenard Haag Sr. will regret to learn that he is seriously ser-iously ill in the L. D. S. hospital in Salt Lake. Mrs. Haag has been with her husband until Sunday and came home for a few days. Wednesday she and her sons, Lenard and Walter were called to the hospital. A blood transfusion was given and Thursday night Mr. Haag was a little better. Mrs. G. A. Anderson entertained I last Saturday night, the occasion being be-ing her birthday. At 8 o'clock dinner din-ner was served, covers being laid for twelve. . Bridge was then enjoyed, I the prizes being won by Mrs. Alice ; Ryaldth and Wallace Hedland of , Salt Lake. The guests were Messrs. and Mesdames C. M. Nielsen, Arlie . Ryaldth, Wallace Hedland and Percy Parsons of Salt Lake, Mr., and Mrs. A. W. Clyde of this city. All World War veterans will be the j juests of the Apollo dance manage- tnent and orchestra tomorrow night it the Armistice Day ball. J j Sixteen years ago November 11th, the Armistice was signed and the ; lance will be one means of celebrat- i.ng this momentous event. j The dance the week following, i November 17th, will be the annual apron and overall party at which appropriate prizes will be given. The i week following, November 24th, will j be the Thanksgiving turkey dance . it which a gobbler will go to some lucky dancer. o The regular monthly meeting of the Alpine stake M. I. A. Boards will be held next Tuesday night in the tithing office at 7:30 o'clock. All members are asked to be present. Mrs. William R. Games . were enjoyed and a delicious lunch ' prepared by the women was served. There were present Mrs- Violet Olpin of Heber; Mrs. Helen Dixon of Provo; Mrs. Zina Brockbank of , Spanish Fork; Mrs. Pearl Broom-head, Broom-head, Mrs. Myrl Garrett, and Mrs. Georgia Peck of Lehi; Mrs. Fay Loveless, Provo; Mrs. Elizabeth Coddmton, Mrs. Eleanor Nicholes, Mrs. Oma Mitchell, Mrs- Ethel Nicholes, Nich-oles, and Miss Alice Parker of this city; Mrs. Regina Thorne and Mrs. Margaret Holdaway of Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Ida Cameron and Mrs. Belva Strong of Alpine. Monday night the Gleaner Girls of the First Ward M. I. A. were entertained en-tertained by their leaders, Mrs. Ben Wright and Miss' Selma. Seastrand and by Misses Mabel Huggard and Merline Gardner at the Seastrand home- The party honored ' Mrs. Jack Iverson, a Gleaner leader of last year, and Mrs. John Webb, former for-mer member of the class. Special guests present included the ward M. I. A. Young Women's presidency, Mesdames T. A. Greenwood, Melvin Grant and Miss Melissa Greenwood and the secretary, Miss Mildred Baum. and the stake Gleaner leader, lead-er, Mrs. Mabel M- Nelson. A de-lisrhtful de-lisrhtful evening was spent in games following which the hostesses served a delicious lunch. There were twenty-one present. |
