Show Delegation Protests Pro-tests Tax Increase A delegation, representing grain growers of the north end of Utah county, protested the increase in the assessed valuation of dry farm lands in Cedar Valley at a meeting of the Utah county commission Monday. Howard P. Leatham and J. Will Knight represented the Utah state tax commission at the meeting. Mr. Leatham suggested the commission reconvene as a board of equalization to consider the problem. Members of the county commission commis-sion said they felt that, unless the 20 per cent increase ordered by the state tax commission was taken off just one section, the rest of the county would be thrown out of balance. bal-ance. They agreed, however, to make a careful study of the problem. prob-lem. Dr. Horace C. Holbrcok of Salt Lake City headed the delegation. Others were Max Rothe and J. Earl Smith, Lehi, and Harvey O. Dahl. The land has been unproductive for some time and the value of the land does not justify the raise, members mem-bers of the delegation reported. |
