Show Local Citizen Celebrating His 80th Birthday Robert E. Booth, a pioneer of American Fork, will celebrate his 80th birthday at the family home here, August 31st. The son of Richard Rich-ard Thornton and Elsie Edge Booth, he was born at Big Sandy, Sublette county, Wyoming, in 1807 and spent the first 12 days of his life on the pioneer trail, arriving in S'alt Lake valley September . 12. The family later moved to Alpine, where he lived until 1901 when he moved to American Pork, which has since been his home. He received his education in the Alpine schools and at the Brigham Young academy. Mr. Booth was engaged en-gaged in farming until eight years ago, when he retired. He has been active in civic and church affairs all of his life, having served one term as mayor of Alpine, and many terms as a member of the city council and as a member of the irrigation irri-gation board. He was president of the M. I. A in Alpine and a member mem-ber of the bishopric in the High land ward, as well as having held many minor church positions during dur-ing his life. On February 5, 1890, he was married mar-ried in the Logan temple to Lo-venia Lo-venia Chipman, daughter of "William "Wil-liam H. and Eliza Filcher Chip-man. Chip-man. To them have been born eight children, four sons and four daughters. daugh-ters. No special invitations are being issued, but all friends are invited to call at the Booth home between the hours of 3:00 and 8:00 on August Au-gust 31st. Out of state guests will be Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Carey of Seattle and Mrs. Irma B. Clarke and daughter, Ann Lonvene, of Los Angeles, California. |
