Show j Timely Topics By C. V. Hansen OUR MOTHERS j The object of Mother's day is to j recall memories of mothers who jhave gone, to brighten the lives of j those who are still with us, and to 1 encourage all to home and parents. And so we greet our mothers on that day. We want them to know that we still love them, although we may have a poor way of showing show-ing it. But we ' know that they have a big tender heart, and that they are ever willing and ready to accept us even though it appears at times, that we are almost forgetting for-getting our mothers. But this day will awaken a desire within us to do better, to remember our mothers more and to show by word and action ac-tion that we are thankful for our mothers. The young mothers who are now starting but raising a family fam-ily has a tremendous task before her. She needs encouragement and support. She will have many difi-cult difi-cult problems to solve. To her, let us say, Behold what our mothers who are advanced in years have done. The battles of life that they have fought, the courage they have exhibited in meeting the dificult problems that have presented themselves. The sacrifices that they have made, the love that they have magnified. But O, how little credit many of these noble mothers have had for all they have done! Many of them toward the latter end, and in the sunset of their lives are entirely forgotten. Shame to the boy and girl, man and woman, wom-an, who forgets their mother. It should not be, no matter how ungrateful un-grateful a son may 'be, no matter how low he may sink, he is always al-ways sure of a mother's love. So let us on that day show that we appreciate our mothers, and if we have been neglectful in the past, let us openly, and especially in our hearts, pay our own mothers every tribute and honor, respect, devotion devo-tion and gratitude that love and sense of duty can suggest. |
