Show New Officers Take Over Lions Club The affairs of the Lions club of this city were officially turned over to the new officers Thursday night of last week when the installation of the officers took place in a ladies night party held in Firmage Hall. The party opened with a banquet served under the direction of Mrs. John Grant. The tables were prettily pret-tily decorated with potted plants suggestive of spring and flower place cards marked the places. Glen L. Taylor, retiring president, presided. The annual report was read by the retiring secretary A. F. Gaisford Jr., as well as the financial finan-cial report. This latter showed the club to be in gpod condition, considering con-sidering the hard pull the members have had" the year past, the club being out of debt with a cash balance. bal-ance. "Tab" and "Bun" and "Mary", (Messrs. C. A. Grant, Ray Shelley and Mrs. Owen Humphries) entertained enter-tained with several song numbers. Mrs. Helen Dixon, of Provo, gave two interesting readings, and the winning essays in the recent Lions club essay contest were read by Miss Helen Greene, first place, and Miss Merline Gardner, second place. Medals to these two young women were awarded from the club by L. B. Adamson. The new "cubs" were initiated into the club by being placed in a "cage" where they remained during dur-ing the forepart of the evening. Dancing followed the banquet. The in-coming officers are: Roy Greenwood, president; Lloyd B. Adamson, first vice president; Elmer El-mer Bate, second vice president; Leo G. Meredith, Third vice president; presi-dent; Directors: Glen Taylor, Warren War-ren F. Anderson, Thomas A. Bar-ratt, Bar-ratt, A. W. Clyde and Fred Cheev-er; Cheev-er; Owen Humphries, secretary; J. E. Chadwick, treasurer; Ben F. Moffett, Lion Tamer; Earl Holm-stead, Holm-stead, Tail Twister, and Clarence Grant, Music director. The officers retiring are: Glen L. Taylor, president; Dr. V. F. Houston, first vice president; Orin Ashton, second vice president; ' E. H. Boley, third vice president; T. A. Barratt, Warren F. Anderson, C. A. Grant, Frank Humphries and Walter Slack, Directors; A. F. Gaisford Jr., secretary; John Rob-linson, Rob-linson, treasurer; E. R. Tuttle, Lion j Tamer; Earl Holmsted, Tail Twist-Uer; Twist-Uer; and J. A. West, music director. |
