Show NELSON'S PUPIL WINS Elda Neves, student of the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove High School, won first place in the state high school piano contest held at the University of Utah on May 4th. She was the last contestant to play in the competition competi-tion and the presiding judge decided decid-ed that she had won so decisively that she was stopped before she had played half of her second number thru. Miss Neves is a pupil of Prof. Elmer E. Nelson, teacher of piano at the B. Y. U., who has been teaching i in Pleasant Grove during the past year. According to Prof. Nelson, his students have won six out of ten piano contests participated in at the B. Y. U. and two of his students won first place in the Utah Federation Federa-tion of Music Clubs contest In ensemble en-semble playing held in Salt Lake City in 1931, making a total of eight contests won out of twelve entered. |
