Show 'Era' Campaigners Seek Early Filling of Quotas In Annual Stake Drive Launched by an energetic group of workers in each ward, the annual Improvement Era campaign is well under way this week, according to Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Baird, stake Era directors. The campaign opened Sunday, October 15, and it is hoped that the magazine may be placed in every home in the stake by the end of October, the directors said. In charge of the subscription drive are the following: First ward, Ray E. Shelley; Second ward, Bishop Joseph H. Storrs; Third ward. Bill Peterson; Fourth ward, Will Roberts; Rob-erts; Highland, Lawrence Day; and Alpine, M. I. A. officers. In urging that ward members support sup-port the campaign, the directors listed the following reasons why the Era should be in every home: 1. The President of the Church, and a member of the Council of the Twelve Apostles, are its chief editors. edi-tors. 2. It is the one Church magazine of general circulation for all members mem-bers of the family. 3. It is the medium through which messages of the General Authorities are sent to the members of the Church. 4. It is the medium through which Melchizedek Priesthood announcements, an-nouncements, news and activity reports re-ports are sent to the Church. 5. It is the means used by the Aaronic Priesthood Leaders to convey con-vey official announcements, Stake and Ward news, suggestions and plans, to local leaders. 6. It is the publication in which Ward Teachers' Messages are printed print-ed exclusively. It also contains suggestions sug-gestions on Ward Teaching, and news of outstanding accomplishments accomplish-ments in Ward Teaching. 7. It is indispensable to Priesthood Priest-hood leaders because of its many articles on Priesthood and Gospel Doctrine. 8. It is the official organ of the Church Schools, and publishes frequent fre-quent articles by Church School Leaders. 9. It is the official organ of the Church Music Committee which is carrying on intensive activities over the Church. 10. It is indispensable to M. I. A. Executives and ripntirtmpnt-. linnric because of the instructions, announcements an-nouncements and information printed print-ed in the M. I. A. departments each month. 11. It is the family magazine of the Church, containing in addition to articles of a strictly religious character, clean, wholesome rending fiction, poetry, etc., in a day when much that is offered our people, young and old, to read is unwholesome unwhole-some and destructive to faith and morals. 12. It is the great missionary magazine of the Church. It goes to all missionaries free, and by them it is distributed to the homes of investigators. in-vestigators. It is also the great home missionary magazine, affording afford-ing contact of Church Leaders with members in all parts of the Church. 13. It is one of the very few magazines mag-azines which has in face of the business busi-ness conditions of the past few years maintained its size and standards, and actually increased the number of reading pages, illustrations and special features without an increase in price. |
