Show o Local Items Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Peterson and daughter, Joyce, of Ogden, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Adams, from Sunday to Tuesday. Daughters of Utah Pioneers met Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Cleone Kirk. Mrs. Alvira Olpin, Mrs. Annie Holman and Mrs. Kirk reported on the state convention conven-tion of the D. U. P., held in Salt Lake City during conference week. Special songs were sung in connection connec-tion with the lesson on "Birds, Flowers Flow-ers and Trees of Early Utah". The lesson was given by Mrs. Harold S. Walker, and Mrs. Mary West, one of the older residents of the city, told what she remembered of the early-day early-day flower gardens in the city. Mrs. Junius Hayes is entertaining in Salt Lake City today (Friday) in honor of her husband's birthday anniversary. A few couples from here have been invited to attend. Mrs. Owen Ash and her mother, Mrs. Inez Olpin, spent Thursday visiting in Ephraim. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Ash are leaving leav-ing this morning (Friday) in company com-pany with Mr. and Mrs. Don Earl of Provo, for the Pacific Coast. They are planning to visit the world's fair at San Francisco. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jacobs and family will leave Sunday morning, by automobile, for the world's fair at San Francisco. Mrs. Lawrence Walker of Lindon entertained at a quilting, at her home Thursday afternoon. Attending Attend-ing were Mrs. Matilda Christiansen and Mrs. Hulda Richins of Pleasant Grove, Mrs. Grace Fielding of Orem, and Mrs. Hilda Anderson, Mrs. Annie An-nie Anderson, Mrs. Mae R. Walker and Mrs. Naomi Walker, of Lindon. Mrs. H. E. Bradley is planning to attend a party given by her club at Provo today (Friday), at the home of Mrs. Clyde Clark. Mr. and Mrs. James E. Sullivan and children Jimmy and Laura of Salt Lake City were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Wes-ley Jense, Sunday. Later in the afternoon, a party who had toured the Alpine scenic loop called to visit and see the new Jense home. They were Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Atkinson and daughters Bobbie and DeAnn of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Clara Webb, Mrs. Ward Webb and daughter daugh-ter Donna, and Mrs. Robert Webb and daughter, JaLaine, of Lehi. Mrs. Wilford Anderson and son, Warren, and Miss Helen Green spent Sunday in Salt Lake City. Mrs. W. L. Green took her daughter, daugh-ter, Kathleen, who recently underwent under-went a rare throat operation, to see their doctor in Salt Lake City Wednesday. Wed-nesday. Kathleen is reported to be "getting along fine" now. Mr. and Mrs. George Peay received re-ceived word from Susanville, California, Cali-fornia, that their son, Jennings Peay, underwent an appendix operation, op-eration, Saturday. He is reported to be getting along as well as can be expected. |
