Show Armistice Day Observed Here Armistice Day, marking Uie lGth anniversary of the day on which the great World War ended, November lllh, 1918, was observed here Sunday night and Monday. On Sunday night in each of the lour L. D. S. wards Legionaries gave short talks befitting the occasion. H. E. McNeill spoke in the First ward, Dr. J. O. Meeks in the Second ward, West Hammond in the Tliird ward and Raymond Monson in the Fourth ward. Monday morning the local post of the American Legion under the direction di-rection of Commander J. J. Mercer Jr., with the Service Star and Legion Ladies Auxiliary conducted appropriate approp-riate exercises in the Senior arid Junior High Schools. Legionaire West Hammond spoke at both pro- grams and readings and musical selections in harmony with the day were given. The programs were opened with prayer by Legionaires Jack Iversan and Raymond Monson and the regular opening Legion ritual rit-ual was given. Miss Ruby Williams gave a touching touch-ing talk on, "The Aftermath of th( World War." |
