Show Strange Vehicle Passes Through Main Street The appearance of a strange vehicle ve-hicle drawn by a man, with his partner riding, appeared Uxn the Main Street Tuesday morning and created quite a bit of attention. The two young men, Patrick Thines, the "motor power" of the vehicle, and Edward Theide, who rides in de-luxe style, left Los Angeles, they report, on March 1st, on a coast to coast jaunt. Their idea is to stimulate interest in buying American Amer-ican products. Painted in large letters on the "jinrikisha" are "Buy American" and "Century of Progress". Prog-ress". The shafts of the cart are two large gold keys, each lettered, "Key to the Century of Progress Chicago" and upon each, mayors of cities through which they pass as well as governors are inscribing their names. The vehicle will be displayed at the World's Fair in Chicago, where they are due on June 1st. The men carry aLso a special key which will be presented to Presi-Ident Presi-Ident Franklin D. Roosevelt. They expect to be in New York City by August 4th. They average 27 miles per day, 1704 paces to the mile. As stated above. Thines draws the cart and Theide rides. |
