Show Fire Department Extends Greeting To Public The members of the American Fork Fire Department desire to extend ex-tend "Christmas Greetings" to the people of our community. We appreciate ap-preciate very keenly the support that has been given and the loyalty shown in helping to make our department more efficient. The motto of the State Firemen: "We aim to Aid and Work to Save" is the desire of every fireman. During the past year we the firemen fire-men through the help and support of the mayor and City Fathers, -have made several very important improvements im-provements on the fire truck and have added some most efficient equipment which has made it possible possi-ble to more effectively fight the dreaded fire demon. The firemen have held a regular school under the direction and supervision sup-ervision of the State Board of Education, Edu-cation, and have had as instructors Captain J. K. Piercey and Fireman Melvin Hatch of the Salt Lake City fire department, and several other very proficient instructors, giving the firemen instruction in latest methods and equipment for fighting fires and protecting the property from damage by water and other destructive agencies. This winter the educational program will be continued contin-ued and a motion picture machine bought by the firemen of the state, in which the American Fork firemen participated, will be used to give instruction on most modern methods of the firemens work. During the last number of years American Fork has been very fortunate fortu-nate in the fire loss per capita. The fire loss for our city last year was 15 cents per capita, while that of the United States was over $3.00 per capita. We have enjoyed our work in put-ing put-ing over the Christmas Tree for the children each year in the past, giving giv-ing cut 1400 packages of candy, nuts and oranges each year. This has cost from $75.00 to $125.00 each year. We hope this ma be continued, and it will be done if we may have the support of the people. It is cur desire to serve you to the best of our ability, give us a hand and let's go. - We truly wish you all and especially especial-ly the children "A Very Merry Christmas" and "A Successful and Happy New Year". Irving L. Pratt, Chief, and Members of the American Fork Fire Department. n |
