Steele. ! 3 I Mrs. George Brora and son Don-i Don-i aid cf Murray are spending a week I i here with Mrs. Brown's parents, Mr. i and Mrs. I. L- Pratt. I Lee Halstrom and R. L. Ashby I featured in a rather peculiar acci-j acci-j dent, which fortunately did not prove more serious for those concerns, con-cerns, last Saturday night on the Utah Lake road south of the city. Will Ashby, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ashby had been down at the lake shore getting a load of sand when his car became stuck. He called for his father to assist him and Mr. Ashby drove another car down. They fastened this car to the other with a rope and was standing by the second machine when the accident occured. Mr. Halstrom and his wife were out for a horse back ride and he was ahead of her on the road. His horse evidently blinded by the lights of the first machine, plunged into the side of the second. Mr. Ashby was thrown against the car and suffered chest injuries and six broken brok-en ribs. Mr. Halstrom was thrown , from his horse and received two broken ribs. The injured are recuperating re-cuperating nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Earl S. Greenwood have received work from New York City of the birth on April 11th of a granddaughter. Elton of Dividend; Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson of Goshen spent Satur- Am. Fork Locals A baby son was born Wednesday morninrr, April 18th, to Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Chlpman'in the Lehi hospital. Mother and babe are doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Parker and daughter and Earl Parker of Salt Lake were Sunday visitors here with Lafe Parker and family and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Shelton and children of Provo were Sunday visitors visi-tors here with Mrs. Shelton's father, Andrew Pulley and family. The Sheltons have a new baby daughter, born March 29th, their second child. O. L. Snow of Elmo spent last week end here with Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Spratley and joined by his wife and small daughter, Beverly Jean, returned to Elmo Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Snow and daughter had spent the week here with Mr. and Mrs. Spratley, her parents. Wayne Chadwick, son of Postmaster Post-master and Mrs. J. E. Chadwick, has returned to American 'Fork from New York after an absence of seven months. During that time Mr. Chadwick has been a student at the "University of New York, taking special advanced educational work In salesmanship. Mrs. Ray Lee of this city is recuperating re-cuperating nicely from, an operation for appendicitis performed recently In the Lehi hospital. She was brought Monday from the hospital to her home here. day last here with their father, Niels Nelson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lee and baby son left Saturday for their home in Tetonia, Idaho, after spending spend-ing several days here with Mr. Lee's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lee. The Tuesday preceding they were met in Logan by Mr. Lee's mother. John Pulley, who for the past month has been in New York on business matters in the interests of the Pulley Feed Mills, arrived home Saturday last. Mr. Pulley was joined join-ed in New York by Wayne Chadwick who made the return trip home with him. Mr. Pulley visited Mr. and Mrs. Owen West (Eva Stice) in Brooklin; and enroute home they were greeted at Philadelphia station by Mrs. Loraine Stewart Lott and enjoyed a I short visit between trains. From here they went on to Detroit where a new Plymouth car was purchased for Dr. Kimball of Salt Lake which Mr. Pulley drove home. They stopped stop-ped in Chicago, and also visited points of church interest including Nauvoo and Carthage, Illinois; and Independence, Missouri, enroute. Altogether Al-together the trip was greatly enjoyed by both. John R. Hindley of Salt Lake, spent last week-end here with relatives rela-tives and friends. Hansen, Han-sen, Mrs. Jesse Spafford and daughter daugh-ter Maurine spent the day in Provo visiting Mrs. D. H. Stubbs and family. fam-ily. The officers and teachers of the Second ward Primary Association will meet tonight (Friday) at the home of their president, Mrs. G. A. Anderson and discuss problems pertaining per-taining to the organization. Mr. 'and Mrs. James Hugh Hindley of Reno, Nevada, spent last weekend week-end here with Mr. Hindley's grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hindley. Hind-ley. Mr. and Mrs. Moral D. Steele, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Chris tensen attended Mr. and Mrs. I. L. P: guests in Salt Lake las: ning of Mr. and K Angel. Merlin Grant has returned home to stay after spending nearly a year in C. C. C. Camp work. Mr. Grant spent last summer at the C. C. C. Camp in American Fork canyon and in the fall when the camp disbanded disband-ed was sent to Camp F-24 at Leeds, Utah. Two weeks ago he was' one of the ten men retained from this camp and was sent to Lewiston, Idaho, Ida-ho, to assist in establishing a C. C. C. Camp there. o a birthday party given in Salt Lake Tuesday night for Mrs. Fritz Wall-berg, Wall-berg, sister of Mrs. Steele. Mrs. Harvel Bennett and small daughter Chloe, returned home from Rigty, Idaho, where Mrs. Bennett was summoned two weeks ago by the serious illness of her mother, Mrs. Edwin Hutchings, who is now much improved. Mrs. William Ohipman, president of the First District of the Federated Women's Clubs, and Mrs. Byron Crookston, delegate from the Ladies Literary Club of this city have attended at-tended the convention of the State Federation of Clubs held in Salt Lake the forepart of the week. Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Mrs. William Thornton, Mrs. J. F. Noyes and Mrs. W. R. Halli-day Halli-day attended the convention. The members of the H. B. club and special guests were entertained Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. Stanford Stan-ford Briggs at her home. Peonies and bridal wreath decorated the entertaining en-tertaining rooms. Bridge was played play-ed at five tables, Mrs. LeMoyne Despain winning the club high score prize and Mrs. David Taylor the guest prize. A delicious lunch was served at the small tables. There were present besides the club members mem-bers Mesdames John Clarke, David Taylor, John Wing, Myron Boley, Ralph Ellison, V. F. Houston, Chris Scott, Glen Sykes, Kenneth Noyes, Laurence Briggs, James Chadwick, Niles Binns and E. H. Devey. The many friends of Martin Hansen Han-sen will regret to learn he is seriously seri-ously ill at his home. He has been confined to his bed for the past week or more. Mr. Hansen is past 87 and has enjoyed good health considering his advanced years, until un-til recently. The 70th birthday Tuesday of Mrs. Dave Conder was the motif for a party that evening given by Mrs. Ccnder's daughter, Mrs. Alma Earl, at her home. Twenty-four were present and enjoyed an evening of games and social chat, after which refreshments were served. Chief I. L. Pratt, who is the chaplain chap-lain of the Utah State Firemen's Association, and Glen Chadwick, tvho is sargeant at arms of the state organization, met with the Board of Dir ectors of the state association last Sunday afternoon in Midvale. Mrs. Lenore Rowley Carroll has returned to her home in Twin Falls, Idaho, after spending several days in American Fork with relatives. Mrs. Carroll is a daughter of the ate Joseph Rowley, and has a mim-Der mim-Der of relatives and friends in this :ity. David Davis and Reed Davis notored to Duchesne Tuesday and returned that afternoon bringing with them their sister, Mrs. Albert jillcspie (Jessie Davis) who is ser-ously ser-ously ill of heart trouble. Mrs. Gil-espie Gil-espie was taken to the home of her step-mother, Mrs. John H. Davis. VIr. Gillespie accompanied his wife icre and Mrs. Gillespie's sister, Mrs. Spencer Gammcll, who has spent the ast week in Duchesne with her, also returned home. E. F.
