Johnson Dies Suddenly John G- Johnson, 72, highly respected re-spected builder and brick mason of this city died suddenly at his home, here, Tuesday evening while eating the evening meal. Death was due to , a heart attack. He had attended the funeral of L. , W. Lund in the afternoon and re- Louis W. Lund Dies In Salt Lake; Funeral Held Here Leuis W. Lund, 1366 Perry avenue, prominent business man, formerly of Pleasant Grove, died early Satur day in a Salt Lake hospital. He was the son of .Louis P. and Emmeline Allred Lund and was born in Spring nitv. Sa.nnete Co.. August 3, 1365. The turned home apparently in usual health. He had just sat down to the supper table when he passed away without any warning. He and hia wife were alone at the time of hia death. Mr. Johnson underwent a serious eye' operation in March of last year and since has not been in as good health as formerly. However, he has been able to work some at his trade as a mason. He was born in Fred-eridsia, Fred-eridsia, Denmark, February 27, 1857. He came to Utah October 1, 1893 and family later moved to Pleasant Grove where he spent his boyhood and most of his life. He attended the Brigham Young university of Provo and also the University of Utah. He served his community in various civic and religious capacities capaci-ties arid at one time was mayor of Pleasant Grove. In 1895-1897 he served the L. D. S. Church as a missionary in the Southern stateB under the presidency of Elias B. Kimball. He spent most of his time in Florida, In 1919 he moved his family to Salt Lake where he resided until death. . He is widely known in Utah and surrounding states as his extensive business took him into all parts of the intermountain territory. He specialized in the importation and sales of blooded horses. has lived in this city most of the time since. He is survived by his wife, Anna Jensen Johnson, and the following children :Hedve Johnson Christian, sen, Oscar V. and Andrew J. of New York, and Louis J. of Los Angeles, California. Funeral services will be held in the stake tabernacle commencing at 1 p. m. on Monday. n He is survived by his widow, Mrs-Lydia Mrs-Lydia Brown Lund, and the following follow-ing children: Mrs. Cleone Lund Kirk of Pleasant Grove; Martell W., Mrs. Emmeline Lund Judd ami Legrand of Los Angeles, California. The funeral was held in the Timpanogos Timp-anogos stake tabernacle at Pleasant Grove, Tuesday, November 19, at 1 p. m. Bishop Frank Pingre of the University Uni-versity ward of Salt Lake presided. A duet "Jesus Lover of My Soul" was sung by Alvin Keddington and Hortense Hinkley accompanied by Mrs. Dora Bengy all of Salt Lake. Invocation was given by Patriarch A. J. Evans. A vocal solo "My i altn in Thee" sung by Hortense Hinkley was the next numbef. The speakers were: Patriarch S. L. Swenson, Elias A. Gee of Provo, a missionary companion of Mr. Lund; Bishop Money of Spanish Fork, and Elder Richard R- Lyman. Closing remarks were made by Bishop Pln-gree. Pln-gree. Interspersing the speakers a violin vio-lin solo was rendered by 'Johanna Lee and a vocal solo "Some Sweet Dav" was sung by Alvin Keddington. Resolutions of respect from the directors di-rectors of the Bank of Pleasant Grove were read by Elder Lyman. A vocal duet "My Father Knows" was sung by Alvin Keddington and Hortense Hor-tense Hinkley, after which Ezra F. Walker pronounced the benediction. The Grave was dedicated 'py ; Thomas H. Gleason. ' The tabernacle was well filled with friends and relatives from every part of the state. The flower completely covered the rostrum and casket. |
