Show Prizes Given for Canning Exhibits i Prizes, totaling $105. will be awarded award-ed by the Kerr Glass Manufactur-j ing corporation to 4-H club groups' and. members of Utah who enter the best canned products in the1 1933 canning) exhibit, according to'. Miss Myrtle Davidson, assistant ; state club leader. First and second., place winners of county club group' exhibits will bo awarded $91, and second and third place individual winners for the state will be award-ed award-ed $14 of the prize money. A gold watch will be given to the club membor who wins first honors in the state contest. ! Counties in which club work is carried on, have been classified ac- j cording to the number of clubs do-1 ing canning; the amount exhibited in the past, and the phases requir- ing fruit, vegetables, or meat can-; ning, as follows: Group A Cache, Box Elder; Davis, Dav-is, Utah, Tooele, Salt Lake, Sum-! mit, Washington, with $3.50 for , first prize and $2 for second prize, : making a total allotment of $44 for this group. Group B Rich, Morgan, Weber, j Beaver, Uintah, Duchesne, Sevier, J Piute, with $2.50 for first prize and i $1.50 for second, making an allotment allot-ment of $32 for this group. Group C Wasatch, Millard, Iron, Garfield, Juab, with $2 for first prize and $1 for second, making an allotment of $15 for Group C. The group exhibits should include: in-clude: Group A three jars of -berries, three varieties; three jars other fruit, three varieties; three jars vegetables, three varieties; two jars meat," two varieties; Group B three jars each with three varieties of berries, other fruit and vegetables; vege-tables; . Group C three jars of three varieties of berries and three jars of other fruit. Exhibits of canned products should be in uniform containers, Miss Davidson said, either in pints or quarts, and labeled on the bot-ton bot-ton of the jars, giving the county letter and the individual's number, num-ber, year of project, group number, num-ber, method of canning, date of canning, and variety of product. Prize money won by a group exhibit ex-hibit must be used to defray group expenses of the club for 1933-. and j 1934.
