Show Minute Bible Stories BY C. V. HANSEN MANNA FALLS After about two months travel, penetrating into the wilderness, their provisions which they had brought with them had run out, and the Israelites became very weak with hunger. This condition created creat-ed in their minds a bitterness against Jehovah, and they protested to Moses and said: "It were better to have died In Egypt where at least we had bread in plenty, than wander wan-der here in the wilderness, dying of hunger." Moses then prayed earnestly to the Lord, who did not fail to answer. Confidently Moses went before his people and said: "In the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord." The mornine came, and to the happy surprise of the people they found a dew upon the ground, and when it was gone, there remained upon the ground particles like large frost flakes. The people exclaimed: "It is manna, angels' food!" Each gathered according to his needs. Upon the sixth day the manna fell in twofold volume, so no one would need to gather on the Sabbath. There were some who were greedy, who sought to gather more than their share, for these the manna became rotten In their hands. Thus were the children of Israel sustained during their journey in the wilderness. Ex. 16. |
