Show Civil War Veteran Hopes To Reach 100th Birthday A precedent set by his grandmother, grand-mother, Sarah Woodington Wid-does Wid-does Logan, who lived to the ripe old age of 102, is one which John W. Widdoes, 95-year-old Civil War veteran of this city, would like to follow. "I hope I'll see one-hundred, at least," says Air. Widdoes, who will celebrate his ninety-sixth birthday anniversary on Sunday, February 4. On Sunday, friends of Mr. Widdoes are invited to call at his home to renew acquaintances. acquaint-ances. Open house will be held from 2 to 6 o'clock, and, as in past years, a large number of townspeople are expected to call and extend their best wishes. . Mr. Widdoes was born in Ohio, on February 4, 1844. Among the eventful incidents in his long life were two terms of enlistment enlist-ment in the Union Army, during dur-ing which he fought for the preservation of the Republic. |
