Show - ' Fire Equipment Makes First Run Wednesday morning at 7 o'clock a. m. the local fire department made a quick run to the home of H. D. Spitler in answer to a fire call. Mr. Spitler hud made the morning fire and the sparks from the chimney had fallen onto the roof igniting the dry shingles. While one member of the family ran to a near by telephone tele-phone the remainder of the family and the neighbors, with garden hose and bucket brigade did all they could to extinguish the fire. When the firemen arrived the fire was almost under control. Both trucks received this initial run which was a good test for the apparatus. The firemen helped to clear the attic at-tic of water and protect the living quarters of the family. The esti-1 mated loss of the fire was about $30.00. Eight firemen responded to this call with 100 gallon of water and 80 gallons of chemicals, enough to protect pro-tect any residence from a disaster-ous disaster-ous blaze. o |
