Show co conservation notes by W earl bail I 1 I 1 for the past two weeks we h have ave reported on the progress to date la in the establishment ol of conservation practices on two of tile the organized soil conservation districts lu in garfield Gartl eld county namely these have been the upper sevier and parla river and tributaries Tributa ries soil conservation districts this week WO we will report on the progress made to date in the escalante river soil conservation district josiah chairman of 0 the governing board at escalante reports that 20 farquer district agreements covering approximately 1367 acres were prepared and signed during 1946 1945 this brings the number of 0 agreements to date to and covers approximately acres the amend ments pread prepared red and signed to date amount to 12 while four agreements have been cancelled in reporting the conservation practices established to date we find that acres of sagebrush have be been en cleared acres of 0 irrigated land have had improved methods of irrigation water application 45 acres of 0 irrigated land has been leveled 26 small irrigation structures have been constructed 2480 lineal feet of boil saying saving dike completed acres of irrigated land seeded to irrigated pasture 1196 acres of range land seeded two overnight storage reservoirs constructed 2 24 4 ering developments completed acres of rangeland properly stocked and soil improvement practices practiced on 1376 acre of cultivated land the report information passed on to you farmers and ranchers has been taken from the district annual report submitted to the department of agriculture in accordance cor dance with the memorandum of understanding between the three districts dish lets in garfield county band and the department 1 this report will complete thu the progress of the three organized soil conservation districts in garfield county for 1946 1945 |
